Forestry - Forest biotope mapping in the state forest
Description
The map service (WMS Group) presents the digital geodata from the forestry sector of the Saarland.:The forest biotope mapping is a survey method that can provide ecological foundations for the implementation of near-natural forestry across the entire area. This forest ecological monitoring includes among other things •The derivation of the natural forest society and the resulting closeness to nature of the actually increasing stock •Determination of habitat diversity, special biotopes and vegetation types •The recording of protected (so-called 22er) biotopes on the basis of special forest types or rare and protected plant and animal deposits. Forest biotope mapping does not claim to be an exact scientific mapping of existing species or ecosystems. It is to be understood as information and guidance for the local businessman in order to combine his economic activity with ecological action, more or less a general, selective but also binding management plan for the conservation and promotion of biodiversity in our forests. The results of the comprehensive WBK are not presented here. The listed objects reflect the state of selective mapping from 1990 to 2008 and are methodically based on the mapping guide ‘Whole-area forest biotope mapping in the Saarland’ - editor: Minister for the Environment, Energy and Transport of the Saarland – as of 1999. Forest biotope mapping is currently being rebuilt according to current standards.
