Description

The main objectives of the 2019 CFP were to: <ul> <li> • collect data and assess the compliance of infant foods to Canadian standards for residues of pesticides and metals/elements</li> <li>• collect data and assess the compliance of dairy-based infant formula for melamine</li> </ul> Previous years have analyzed pesticides, metals/elements, veterinary drug residues, aflatoxin M1 and environmental contaminants. In the 2019 CFP, a total of 298 samples of infant and toddler foods were purchased in the Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec areas in August and September, 2019. These samples included: <ul> <li>• infant cereals</li> <li>• fruit and vegetable purees</li> <li>• infant and toddler snacks</li> <li>• dairy-based infant formula</li> <li>• yogurt and yogurt beverages</li> </ul>
