Energy scenarios in view of the 2030 and 2050 climate targets
Description
Energy scenarios are an essential basis for the discussion of national climate change policies and for fulfilling the reporting obligation under the Monitoring Mechanism. The Federal Environment Agency has drawn up several energy and GHG scenarios for this purpose. While the WEM scenario only takes into account measures that have already been implemented, the WAM scenario also reflects measures that are considered likely to be implemented. In addition to the WEM scenario (average economic growth of 1.5% p.a. until 2030, followed by 1.3% p.a.), sensitivity scenarios with 2.5% p.a. and 0.8% p.a. and adjusted energy prices were calculated. Only in the WAM scenario will all national targets (1,050 PJ final energy consumption; 34% share of renewable energy sources; -16% GHG) for 2020.
