3D model North Sea - Quaternary sub-model - Holocene base German North Sea - Lower Saxony coast
Description
In the area of the coastal Holocene, the comparison between the existing ‘Relief Map of the Holocene Base 1:25,000’ (Strip 1998) and the 3D base area of the Holocene shows a significant gain in information regarding the distribution and thickness of the Holocene deposit. The modeled Holocene base area has not only been significantly refined, but has also been supplemented by approximately 2,000 km2 (54%) of surface area. In the area of the Lower Saxony coast, the deposits of the Holocene reach a thickness of up to 40 m.
