BEVLS_A0100_1 - Fresh groundwater in coastal and polder areas, unsealed (from 2028)
Description
In order to manage the groundwater, the Flemish subsoil is divided into several three-dimensional units: groundwater bodies. Within these groundwater bodies, environmental objectives are tested and, if necessary, measures are imposed. BEVLS_A0100_1 - Fresh groundwater in the coastal and polder area, unsealed. Content: all deposits of the Quaternary Aquifer systems A0100, and the deposits underlying them of the Oligocene Aquifer system A0400, the Ledo Paniseliaan Brusselian Aquifer system A0600 and the Ieperian Aquifer system A0800 in which freshwater lenses with significant thickness occur on top of silted groundwater. The bodies of groundwater have both a name and a code. This code starts with an abbreviation of the Member State and the Region (BEVLM_A0200_2 = Belgium, Flanders), followed by the letter "S" or "M", indicating that a groundwater body is situated in the Scheldt or Meuse river basin district (BEVLM_A0200_2 = Meuse). The numerical code refers to the HCOVv2 code, which corresponds to the main aquifer (BEVLM_A0200_2 = Kempens Aquifer system). A sequential number at the end indicates the further spatial division of the groundwater bodies into that aquifer (BEVLM_A0200_2 = second groundwater body in the Meuse river basin district of which the Kempens Aquifer system is the most important aquifer).
