Topographical map of the Province of Westphalia and the Rhine Province 1 : 80 000 1841 - 1855 (HKWR)
As a successor card to the Prussian General Staff Card 1 : 86 000 the topographic map 1 was created : 80 000 for the Province of Westphalia and the Rhine Province by reduction from the measuring table photographs taken in the years 1836 to 1842 in Westphalia and 1843 to 1850 in the Rhineland on a scale of 1: 25 000 (original measuring table blades). The area of the Principality of Birkenfeld, which belongs to the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, was also included in the topographical survey.
The geographical sheet section of 30’ x 15’ of the Prussian General Staff Map 1 : 86 400 was retained, so that the individual map sheets have a map image format of about 45 cm x 35 cm due to the larger scale.
Because of the higher accuracy of the images, the maps, which were processed as lithographs, were also published for civilian purposes for the first time.
