[DREAL OCCITANIA] Coastline 2020 _ Satellite images
Description
The constellation of Pleiades satellites makes it possible to have images ideally combining wide coverage, high resolution (50 cm) and important update frequency: every point in the national territory is flown every three to four days, with a resolution of 70 cm. The IGN ensures the ortho-rectification of images, to constitute “satellite orthos”.
The vectorisation of the coast line from satellite images of the coast of September 2020 was carried out by CEREMA on behalf of DREAL Occitanie.
The rib line here corresponds to the middle of the bank jet (*);
a smoothing was carried out to obtain the final route.
The work carried out on a test area made it possible to evaluate a fine level of accuracy, of the order of the metre.
(*) The shore jet corresponds to the net of water rising on the instantaneous foreshore following the last surge. The return jet corresponds to the descending water net (back-wash). These two ascent and descent movements define the swash, also known as shore jet.
