Industrial heritage trail Aabach
Description
The industrial heritage trail Aabach is a hiking trail. The area between Wildegg, Lenzburg and Hallwilersee is one of the core regions of industrialization in the canton of Aargau. Over the last 250 years, there have been a total of 28 plants along the Aabache that used hydropower as an energy source. They were the basis for the emergence of the textile industry, first in manufactories, then soon in mechanized spinning mills and weaving mills. The basis of this development was the textile homework, which had experienced a great upswing in the Lenzburg region since the middle of the 18th century. The use of hydropower and the textile industry were the basis for the emergence of a whole series of other industrial companies such as the canning factory in Seon, the oxygen plant in Lenzburg, the pasta factory Tommasini, the Hero and the Wisa-Gloria plants, the Swiss linen industry in Niederlenz and the copper wire insulation plants in Wildegg.
