Digiroad

Description

Digiroad is a national dataset under the responsibility of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, which contains the centreline geometry of the road network as well as traffic-related characteristics. Digiroad is a compiling information system that collects data from the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s Velho Information System, the National Land Survey of Finland’s terrain database, municipal street information systems and the information systems of some other authorities (e.g. Helsinki Region Transport HSL). The centreline geometry of Digiroad’s road network is obtained from the National Land Survey of Finland’s terrain database. It covers all roads, streets and private roads in Finland, as well as pedestrian routes and driving paths in the Landscape database. In addition, the road network describes some complementary material on the road line geometry provided by municipalities and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, which is not maintained by the National Land Survey of Finland. These links can be separated from the rest of the geometry with the help of administrator data. Features serving Digiroad’s mobility planning include the functional category of the road, information on the direction of traffic flow, road name and address information, road and street network usage restrictions (e.g. closed connection, turning restriction, weight, height, length and width) and other characteristics of the road network (e.g. speed limit, width, pavement data, level crossings). Digiroad data can be downloaded from the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s download and viewing service as a single package. An exception to this is the public transport stop data type, which can also be downloaded from Digiroad’s website. More detailed information on the public transport stop data can be found in the “Joined Resources” section below. The data are updated on the interface every week and in the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s data service about 4 times a year.
