NWB Roads route system National and Provincial roads, segmentation mode B, route3 (RWS)
Description
The NWB-Wegen is a digital geographical file of all roads in the Netherlands. All roads managed by road authorities such as the national government, provinces, municipalities and water boards are included, but only insofar as they are provided with a street name or number. So also loose foot and bicycle paths and unpaved roads, if provided with a street name, are included in the NWB Roads. If a road has separate lanes, which is especially the case with national roads, these are processed as separate road sections in the file.
The NWB Roads file currently consists of more than 158,000 hectolitres and more than 1 million digitized road sections with a total length of almost 158,000 kilometers (measurement 2020).
In this derived product, however, all the national and provincial roads are included. It is possible to segment the route system based on information present in entities located below the road section. There are two possible variants: A: hectonic intervals: B: combination of hectolitre intervals and positions of hectolitre points. The difference between the two variants is that variant A is based on the situation in which hectometre poles on a road section are at equal distances from each other. This is not the case in practice, which is why variant B has been developed. In this variant, each segment is formed by the positions of the hectolitre points, combined with hectometreation of hectolitre jumps and junctions of road sections (these are therefore the hectolitre intervals).
Because the user will want to display the network at different levels, five different route systems are provided.
The NWB_wegen_route product is updated monthly.
