The division into employment areas is a partition of the territory adapted to local labour market studies. It serves as a reference for the dissemination of localised unemployment rates and job estimates. Zoning also defines territories relevant to local diagnostics and can guide the delimitation of territories for the implementation of territorial policies initiated by public authorities or local actors. This zoning is defined for both metropolitan France and the French overseas departments.
