Spot location of micro-power stations and hydro-electric dams in the department of Allier
Description
Two types of work can be distinguished according to their size and use.
The first type of work consists of works operated by EDF (granted works). In the department these are the dams of
Rochebut and Prat on the Cher and Châtel-Montagne on the Besbre. In addition to their use for electrical production, these large structures are also used for other uses such as water supply.

The 2nd type of work is aimed at private installations of much smaller size called micro-centrals. At the level of
Department, the majority of micro-centrals are located on the Sioule, and none exist on the Cher and Allier rivers. Electricity generated
by micro-centrals is either sold to EDF or self-consumption.
Any creation or modification of works is subject to strict regulations: energy Use Act 1919
hydraulics and articles L 214-1 to 6 of the Environmental Code.
