State of the art of Austrian foundries
Description
The report of the Federal Environment Agency provides a compact overview of the state of the art of Austrian foundries. In addition to a description of the technologies used, the legal framework conditions, plant-specific emissions and measures to reduce emissions are explained. The description of selected Austrian foundries covers the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector as well as companies with commercial and industrial structures. Environmentally relevant emissions are generated in foundries by melting furnaces, mould production, casting into the mould, separation of mould and casting, as well as by plastering and post-processing steps. The resulting pollutants are dust, organic carbon, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, amines, phenol, formaldehyde, inorganic chlorine and fluorine compounds and heavy metals.
