Energy commodities - Depth maps: Namurian to sedimentary Oberrotliegend
Description
For the hydrocarbon model, depth maps for the Upper Rotliegend and the Carboniferous basement horizons of the Stefan to Namur were recreated from literature data. The depth maps for the horizons of the Namur to the sedimentary Upper Rotliegend were compiled from different literature data. The compilation was done considering the maps for the base horizons Zechstein to seafloor surface modified for the input model from the generalized structural model of the central German North Sea sector (GSN, Kaufmann et al., 2013). The objective of the 3D numerical modeling is to reconstruct the subsidence, temperature, and maturation history of Carboniferous petroleum source rocks, which can be used as a basis for estimating the hydrocarbon potential. For map generation, depth and thickness information from the printed maps was converted into a contiguous surface by scanning, georeferencing, digitizing isolines, and interpolation. Modeling involved importing into PetroMod modeling software (Schlumberger, version 2012.2) and revising to correct for overlaps and abrupt cell transitions. The maps are available for download in two different data formats (CPS3 and Zmap). The individual depth layer maps have a file size of 8.5 MB each (zip files 1.3 MB).
