Effective Root Space (LKWe) (HAD) air capacity
Description
The geometric reference base of maps 4.3 and 4.4 is the use-differentiated soil
overview map, i.e. the result of an intersection of the soil overview map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1: 1 000 000" (BÜK 1000; HARTWICH et al. 1995) and a map of the
current land use (CORINE Land Cover, STATISTISCHES BUNDESAMT 1997), generalized
to target 1 : 2 000 000. Usable field capacity nFKWe and air capacity trucks
are based on the depth of the effective root space and for the characteristic values, the classification was carried out individually for each type of use, since the depth of the effective root space is defined according to soil hydrological requirements of the plants and assessed for agricultural and forestry sites according to separate algorithms or at forest sites
is on average 20% higher.
