Register of professional foster parents
Description
The foster parent may decide whether to pursue a foster care activity as the sole profession or to exercise this in addition to his/her profession and employment relationship. Regardless of this status, the duties of the foster parent in relation to the foster child are the same.
The ZIRD provides that a foster parent may carry out foster care as a profession, provided that:
that he is not in an employment relationship or a member of a private company or institution in the Republic of Slovenia who is at the same time a manager, may not engage in any activity other than the sole or main occupation on the basis of which he/she is included in compulsory pension and invalidity insurance; and
it must comply with the norm — at the same time it must have three children, of which at least two for a whole month.
A foster parent who carries out foster care as a profession shall be guaranteed, in addition to the foster benefit, payment of social security contributions in accordance with the special regulations governing the payment of social security contributions.
A foster parent who carries out foster care as a profession and has three children in foster care receives a monthly sum of EUR 1 587.27 per month for three children (EUR 3 x 520.56) and social security contributions of EUR 301.45 (from a base of EUR 789.15).
Like the farm, funds for social security contributions are provided in the budget of the Republic of Slovenia and are not subject to personal income tax.
