Marine Management Entities: Spanish reference isobaths
Description
Isobats are lines joining points of equal depth. Each line, understood as a unit of differentiated information, is associated with two fields. One of the fields is called value and indicates the depth of each line, and another called origin which is the source that originated it. The data cover the Territorial Sea Zone (12 miles), the Contiguous Zone (24 miles) and partially the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Spain. There is also timely bathymetry in the Algerian and Moroccan Exclusive Economic Zone. The equidistance has been established according to the depth, but there will be areas where the equidistance will be greater than established because in those specific areas less information is available. Then:- Depth between 0 and 150 meters equidistance of 25 meters.- Depth between 150 and 500 meters equidistance of 50 meters.- For depth greater than 500 meters equidistance of 100 meters. As for its creation, the dates are disparate. The beginning is in 1997, when the project begins, until the present moment.The information is multisource: 1- paper maps that were scanned, georeferenced, digitized and encoded to enter them into the GIS.2- maps that were already in digital and georeferenced.3- Data that come from specific oceanographic campaigns, which are processed and encoded. All this heterogeneous information is compiled and transformed into ESRI GIS format. Corporate Geodatabase ArcSDE managed by SQL Server.
