Global Sea Ice Concentration Climate Data Record Release 1.1 (period 1978-2009) - DMSP
Description
Daily averaged fractional ice cover in percentage. Based on passive microwave satellite data over the polar regions. The brightness temperatures has been atmospherically corrected and an optimal and dynamical sea ice concentration algorithm has been used. Ice concentration is calculated from L1B files and averaged and gridded to the daily files. This is a Thematic Climate Data Record (TCDR). Better than using this 1st release of this data record, please use the reprocessed sea ice concentration data record v2.0 (EO:EUM:DAT:MULT:OSI-450).
