CrIS Sensor Data Records reduced spectral samples - JPSS
Description
The Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS), a Fourier transform spectrometer with 2211 spectral channels, can be used to produce high-resolution, three-dimensional temperature, pressure, and moisture profiles. These profiles are used to enhance weather forecasting models, and to facilitate both short- and long-term weather forecasting. A subset of 431 spectral channels only are included in the datasets distributed via GTS in order to reduce the data volume. The data are currently available for Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21.
