HSCAT Winds at 50 km Swath Grid - Hai Yang 2D
Description
Stress-equivalent 10m winds over the global oceans obtained from the HY-2D HSCAT scatterometer. The HSCAT instrument is mounted on the HY-2D satellite which was launched on May 19th, 2021 by the Chinese National Satellite Ocean Application Service (NSOAS). The same instrument is mounted on the HY-2B and HY-2C satellites which were launched in 2018 and 2020. The Ku-band HSCAT instruments on these satellites are identical and similar to the SeaWinds and OSCAT scatterometers. The level 1b files from NSOAS are processed into level 2 wind products on 25 km and 50 km swath grids.
