HSCAT Winds at 50 km Swath Grid - Hai Yang 2B
Description
Stress-equivalent 10m winds over the global oceans obtained from the HY-2B HSCAT scatterometer. The HSCAT instrument is mounted on the HY-2B satellite which was launched on October 25th, 2018 by the Chinese National Satellite Ocean Application Service (NSOAS). The same instrument is mounted on HY-2C and HY-2D satellites which were launched in 2020 and 2021 respectively. The Ku-band HSCAT instruments on both satellites are identical and similar to the SeaWinds and OSCAT scatterometers. The level 1b files from NSOAS are processed into level 2 wind products on 25 km and 50 km swath grids.
