Development of waste qualities for co-incineration.
Description
Every year, more than one million tonnes of waste are used as substitute fuels in Austrian waste co-incineration plants. These plants include power plants, energy plants in paper and pulp production, in clamping plate production and cement production plants. This report examines the development of the quality of four selected wastes for co-incineration between 2015 and 2020. The pollutants examined are those that need to be analysed for the preparation of the necessary assessment evidence: Antimony, arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, nickel and mercury. There was no statistically significant increase in heavy metals in the four waste considered over the period considered. However, a declining trend was observed for individual wastes for individual metals.
