Development of the waste prevention programme 2023.
Description
Waste prevention is one of the top priorities of waste policy in the European Union with economic and environmental benefits. It is becoming increasingly important not only in environmental policy, but also in industrial and raw materials policy. The EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) obliges Member States to establish a waste prevention programme. The objectives and measures set out therein aim to decouple economic growth from the environmental impacts associated with waste production. This report describes the development and preparation of the waste prevention programme 2022 and includes the review of the state of implementation of the previous waste prevention programme 2017 and its actions, as well as the development of newly defined measures and indicators to review them.
