Ecological islands in the area of the municipality of Litija
Description
An ecological island is a place where containers are installed for the separate collection of secondary raw materials for a specific residential area, in order to rationalise the separate collection of waste. The location is determined by the contractors and the municipality and is usually arranged in residential areas and along or in larger shops, shopping centres, health institutions, school institutions and kindergartens. In urban areas and urban settlements or larger agglomerations, ecological islands are regulated for at least every 250 inhabitants.
Ecological islands shall be maintained and arranged in such a way that:
— municipal waste producers can unequivocally identify which types of separate fractions are collected on ecological islands;
— waste is collected separately in such a way that it can be reused, recovered or disposed of in accordance with the regulations,
there is no environmental pollution at the site of an ecological island.
On organic islands, they shall be separately collected or, in combination with a sorting plant, sorted and classified at least
— glass, including retail sales packaging of glass,
— metals, including retail sales packaging of metal.
