Helsinki’s 2030 Climate Technologies – City Performance Tool data set
Description
Helsinki is on the path to achieving its 30 % emission reduction target for greenhouse gas emissions in 2020. The city has reduced emissions by around 22 % between 1990 and 2014. The city aims to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050, especially through cleaner electricity and heating. In order to better model the city’s carbon neutrality trajectory, this study examines 2030 to identify the most cost-effective technologies that the municipality can promote.
The study examines CO2 emissions, air pollution jobs and the cost-effectiveness of the measures. The city’s experts selected 10 possible measures to be considered.
The study examined separately two different pathways of emission development 2015-2030. The Business as Usual (BAU) scenario and the City Performance Tool (CyPT) scenario include new measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This report does not examine possible centralised energy production activities that are covered by Helen’s development programme.
The results of this study are open to use. The following Excel file contains the most important data used as a basis for the calculation, which were used to model CO2 emissions and future scenarios. Excel contains dedicated tabs for contacts, general city information, energy, transport and buildings.
