Group layer biotope types (area, line, point)
Description
Important note: The dataset is updated daily under OpenData NRW! The group layer Biotope types can be selected in the Web Map Service Landscape Information Collection (WMS LINFOS) and displays the spatial location of biotope types worthy of protection in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the biotope register three levels of observation. The first and geometrically least detailed level of consideration ‘BK’ is the ‘biotope worthy of protection’, which is often a biotope complex from an ecological point of view. In most cases, more detailed data collection is available for these ‘biotopes worthy of protection’, so that a ‘biotope worthy of protection’ in the cadastre is composed of several different biotope type areas. The biotope type areas are described in the cadastre by the most detailed level of consideration ‘BT’ in terms of content and geometry. Each biotope type area is assigned a ‘biotope type’ (= a main structure type code), which, in its definition as ‘abstracted type from the entirety of structurally similar biotopes’, initially represents only one land cover category without ecological assessment. However, since each biotope type area is assigned, in addition to the main structure type code, a vegetation type and additional codes about the ecological location, existing small structures, forms of use and/or stage training, all information is available for each biotope type area in order to be able to assign it to a habitat type. At BT level, the "habitat type" encodes largely uniform ecological conditions for communities or parts of communities.
