Guarantee of income for the elderly (GRAPA)

Who is eligible for GRAPA? How much is GRAPA? The majority of GRAPA beneficiaries also receive a pension in addition to their GRAPA. This may be a retirement pension (RP), a survivor’s pension (SP), a divorced spouse’s pension (PD) or a combination thereof. The GRAPA is an aid allowance which is calculated on the basis of the family situation and resources of the person concerned. In recent years, we have seen an increase in GRAPA-related spending. The number of GRAPA beneficiaries increased only slightly compared to the total annual expenditure. This is reflected in the higher average amounts paid per GRAPA beneficiary. Therefore, this higher expenditure is rather due to the increase in GRAPA amounts than to the increase in the number of GRAPA beneficiaries.
