Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park - Protected zones 1 and 2 of the national park (Zonierung, LKN.SH - NPV)
Description
This dataset provides the zoning of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park.
The National Park was established in 1985 and expanded in 1999. It serves the protection and natural development of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea and the preservation of its special character. The entirety of nature in its natural development with all plants, animals and ecosystems has an intrinsic value to be protected (Section 2(1) of the National Park Act).
In order to ensure the most undisturbed nature processes possible, the national park was divided into two protection zones (protection zone 1 and protection zone 2), which are provided with different protection provisions. Protected zone 1 may not be entered and includes a use-free area between Sylt and Föhr. Protected zone 2 may be used to a limited extent.
The classification of the national park into these two protected zones is regulated by § 4 of the National Park Act (Act for the Protection of the Wadden Sea of Schleswig-Holstein (National Park Act – NPG of 17 July 2007). The dynamic adaptation of the protection zones in the map representations is possible on the basis of the so-called Protection Zone Ordinance (Protected Zone Ordinance of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park – Protection Zone Ordinance of 4 April 2006).
