Description
In the area of operation of the Southwest Finland Environment Institute, traditional landscapes were surveyed in 1992-1997 as part of the national traditional landscape inventory. In the inventory, the sites were classified as valuable nationally (V), regionally (M) or locally (P) based on their use history, management status and vegetation. The inventories were carried out on a provincial basis. The areas found are usually quite small, with an average area of 5.7 ha. Spatial data on traditional landscapes is regional data produced by the Environment Centre of Southwest Finland and available to cooperation partners upon request. The reports on the traditional landscapes of Southwest Finland - Egentliga Finlands vårdbiotober and the traditional landscapes of Satakunta describe, among other things, the development of meadow and livestock farming. In addition, they include area descriptions of all valuable traditional landscapes with treatment recommendations.
