Early Market Opportunity MHK Energy Site Identification - Wave and Tidal Resources

Description

This data was compiled for the 'Early Market Opportunity Hot Spot Identification' project. The data and scripts included were used in the 'MHK Energy Site Identification and Ranking Methodology' Reports (see resources below). The Python scripts will generate a set of results--based on the Excel data files--some of which were described in the reports. The scripts depend on the 'score_site' package, and the score site package depends on a number of standard Python libraries (see the score_site install instructions).

33 Paper which utilizes the tidal data included in this dataset. The ranking methodology is a multi-criteria decision analysis that uses six criteria to identify likely deployment locations. The criteria include resource density (tidal power density), market size, energy price (an estimate of avoided energy cost in the market), range to resource, shipping cost, and water depth. https://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy17osti/66079.pdf
21 This library contains tools for performing the site-scoring and ranking described in the MHK Early Market reports. https://github.com/lkilcher/score_site
