FKB height curve – historical data 2024
Description
The FKB height curve is part of the Common Map Database (FKB). FKB is a collection of datasets that form a central part of the base map. See Metadata entry for Common Map Database for more info.
The FKB height curve includes data necessary to describe the shape and height of the terrain above a given reference level. The object types height curve, submersion curve, apex, submersion point, terrain point and terrain line are covered by the specification.
New elevation curves are mainly generated from an off-road model based on point clouds from laser scanning. The height curves are then only a display of the terrain model. The best information about the terrain is obtained by direct use of the terrain model.
FKB data is non-sensical and open data. The FKB data is financed through the Geogrowth cooperation, or the municipalities alone for municipalities that are outside Geogrowth. The FKB data is freely available to Norway digital parties and can be downloaded through the download solution at Geonorge. Private operators must purchase access to the data through a retailer.
