River basin districts (land area)
Description
Land area of river basin districts, defined in accordance with the provisions of the Water Framework Directive. The river basin district is defined as the land and marine area composed of one or more neighbouring river basins and the transitional, groundwater and coastal waters associated with those basins. The boundary between the land and marine domains of river basin districts has been established using the inland line of the coastal and transition masses of the 2016-2021 Hydrological Plans. This data set is therefore derived from the data set of Hydrographic Demarcations (land and marine areas), once the marine area of the same has been eliminated.
The current version of this data set (September 2021) is adapted, in the terrestrial area of the demarcations, to Order TEC/921/2018 of 30 August 2018 defining the lines indicating the main cartographic limits of the territorial areas of the river basin confederations in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 650/1987 of 8 May 1987 defining the territorial areas of the river basin bodies and the river basin management plans.
