Description
The Forest Centre’s forest resources data are available in two different formats: as lattice material and forest resource patterns.
The collection of forest resources data is based on laser scanning, aerial photography, measurement of reference plots and
woodwork interpretation based on these data. Long-distance mapping-based woodworking grid
covers all forests since the 2013 inventory, but graph-specific forest resource data are produced
primarily for private forests. Graph data can also be processed by general government, such as municipalities or
for parish countries, if they are forest owners in the Metsään.fi service. Government countries do not do
however, terrain inventories related to the collection of forest resources data. Annual inventories of approximately 10-12
a total of 1.5 million hectares of private forests are located in different parts of Finland.
The inventory cycle is then ten years.
