Description
Services for the provision of data relating to maritime areas in Cyprus. The data come from the Department of Land Registry and Surveying and relate to:
1. Artificial Coastline — is the intersection of the sea surface with construction work. It has been captured by orthophoto maps and satellite images. The reason why the thematic level was created is to support the construction of maritime maps and for Maritime Spatial Planning.
2. Natural Coastline — is the intersection of the sea surface and the Natural Earth Surface.
3. Intratidal Zone — The coastline is not stable as the sea surface is constantly changing due to tides and waves. Thus there is a land zone surrounded by the sea depending on the tidal phase (intratidal zone). At this thematic level there are two main categories. The lower Rhechia which is the lowest level the sea can take and the Maximum Winter Isalus Line which is the line that captures the occupancy surface of the sea at the peak or during the winter where we have intense weather events. The Maximum Winter Isalos Line is usually identified with the limit from which the vegetation starts.The coastline has been depicted by orthophoto maps and satellite images. The reason why the thematic level was created is to support the construction of maritime maps and for Maritime Spatial Planning. It is not recommended to be used for land and legal applications as it has not been confirmed by field visits.
The data download process is implemented through “GML” file packets. The data are also available through WMS, ersiREST, json and SOAP services. Through these services, select the levels:
