SE.ACMF Meteorological observations - Total cloud amount hourly
Description
Purpose: Describes the current weather and, over time, the climate. Basis for forecast verification.
Unit: %
Characteristics: The total amount of cloud measured every hour at automatic stations or assessed every three hours at manual stations. If the amount of cloud is not possible to determine due to fog, precipitation or other visibility-impairing phenomena, the value is set to 113%.
Network information:
- SMHI's station network: Data is collected and stored in SMHI's databases. Data quality is checked, which means that incorrect data is corrected and that data loss is supplemented based on expert judgement where possible. Most of the stations are continuously monitored, inspected and maintained by SMHI.
- Other stations: Data is collected and stored in SMHI's databases. The data quality is unknown to SMHI as SMHI does not perform quality control on data or inspections at the stations.
Quality codes: Green = Verified and accepted values. Red (R) = Suspected/incorrect data or data coming from a sensor with a maximum measurement height of 3800 m. It misses clouds at a higher altitude, which gives an uncertain measurement value in general.
Boundaries: 0 to 100% and 113%
