Assessment areas and agglomerations in Lower Saxony
Description
The monitoring and assessment of air quality is carried out with regard to type, extent and quality according to fixed specifications of 39. Federal Immission Control Ordinance. When assessing air quality, a distinction is made between agglomerations (urban areas with high population density) and other assessment areas (Niedersachsen Nord, Niedersachsen Mitte and Niedersachsen Süd) with regard to the protection of human health.
The assessment with regard to the special protection of natural ecosystems and vegetation takes place in the ecosystem protection areas Wadden Sea and Harz.
