Soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50000 – Local relocation potential (exchange frequency) 2021-2050 No climate protection scenario (RCP8.5) (WFS service)

Description

The map shows the mean local displacement potential (for non-absorbable substances (also the replacement frequency of soil water per year) for the 30-year period 2021-2050 under the “No climate protection” scenario (RCP8.5). With the help of the exchange frequency (AH) of the soil water, the local displacement potential for non- or weakly absorbable substances can be described. The AH indicates how often the soil solution in the effective root zone is replaced in the course of the leachate relocation. The lower the water storage and retention capacity of a soil, the greater its frequency of exchange of soil water. Statements on the concentration and cargo of non-sorbable substances cannot be mapped with the method. For nitrate, deposition, denitrification and mineralisation are not taken into account. Depending on the location, they can have a significant impact on the nitrate availability and concentration in leachate water. The climate models are powered by the “No Climate Protection” scenario (RCP8.5). This is a scenario of the IPCC, which describes a continuous increase in global greenhouse gas emissions, which by the end of the 21st century generates an additional radiative forcing of 8.5 watts per m² compared to pre-industrial levels. The results of all climate models are equally likely. Therefore, in addition to the mean that shows a tendency, the upper (maximum) and lower (minimum) edges of the result bandwidth can be retrieved via the MapTip.
