Natura 2000 sites (Environmental Vision 2016-2020)
Description
This stock contains Natura 2000 sites as established in the Environmental Vision of Groningen 2016-2020.
An important part of the NNN is the Natura 2000 sites. Natura 2000 is the name of a European network of nature reserves with important flora and fauna, seen from a European perspective. Natura 2000 aims to protect this flora and fauna sustainably.
For each Natura 2000 site, a management plan shall be adopted by the competent authority, describing measures, management and monitoring. This is done in close consultation with owners, users and other relevant authorities such as municipalities, water boards and provinces.
We are responsible for the implementation and reporting for the areas Lieftinghsbroek, Zuidlaardermeer and Lauwersmeer. The areas Leekstermeer and Drentsche Aa are under the responsibility of the province of Drenthe. The Kingdom is responsible for the North Sea Coastal Zone and Wadden Sea.
