Heat - Older people in the warmest neighbourhoods (2020)
Description
This map shows the percentage of elderly people living in the warmest neighbourhoods of the province of Zuid-Holland. An age limit of 65 years has been maintained for this purpose. The hottest neighbourhoods shown are based on the 2020 Climate Impact Atlas, which shows neighbourhoods that are at least two degrees warmer due to the urban heat island effect. Elderly people are particularly vulnerable at higher temperatures*.
This map is intended to help organizations prioritize their efforts, by providing insight into which warm neighborhoods many elderly people live in. You can then choose to be the first to work in these neighborhoods.
The neighborhoods in the province of South Holland where the temperature rises less than two degrees, and neighborhoods where less than 10% of the residents are older than 65 years are not shown on this map.
