The Siderit course of the Bilstein mountain near Ennepetal-Altenvoerde and its geological age
Description
In Bilsteiner Berg near Ennepetal-Altenvoerde (Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis) – on the north wing of the Remscheid saddle – there is a siderite and anchorite leading vein in sedimentary secondary rocks of the lower Middle Devonia. The mining operation on iron ore began here possibly in the Middle Ages and then took place in several operating periods in the 18th and 19th centuries. There is a certain discrepancy between the large area of the mining relics and the scarce written documentation of the mining operation. In geological literature, the aisle deposit has not been treated significantly.
