Transport network of federal waterways (VerkNet BWaStr)

Description

The national transport network of the federal waterways (VerkNet-BWaStr) is a topologically linked vector data set of all federal waterways (BWaStr). This geobase data set of the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) is used for continuous station-related georeferencing of all WSV data with direct and indirect spatial reference. The BWaStr transport network answers the following questions, among others: -- Where do the federal waterways run? -- How are the routes stationed? -- How are the individual routes related? -- How are technical information assigned to plug sections? The data includes the designation of the federal waterways (including the identification numbers) and mileage data, the waterway classes as well as layers for the organisation of the WSV administrative districts of the branch offices of the GDWS, administrative areas of the waterways and shipping offices (WSA), the areas of responsibility of the outer districts (ABz) and other information such as the direction of flow. This information is provided via a dataset in ESRI shape format or as an ESRI file geodatabase as so-called dynamically segmented polylines. By means of linear referencing, factual data available in tabular form can be visualized and used in a GIS on the basis of this data set.
