Description
The “Overview Map of Exploration-relevant rocks for hydrothermal geothermal energy in Lower Saxony 1:500.000” summarises representations from various sources originally heterogeneous in terms of content and accuracy for the distribution of rocks in Lower Saxony, which are assessed by the LBEG as exploration relevant for hydrothermal geothermal energy. It is based on the evaluation of external studies as well as work of the LBEG. Regionally related geological units with specific properties in which hydrothermal potentials are assumed to be localised, but which are to be demonstrated on a site-by-site basis, are referred to as exploration-relevant. This map does not replace local geological considerations, feasibility analyses or potential studies. It provides an overview on a supraregional scale. Local deviations can be expected. The proposed resources are not differentiated according to the expected temperature or performance level of the recoverable heat or its practical usability. The selection of the displayed rock units corresponds to the current state of knowledge and the current data situation. It is to be expected that there will be other resources that have not yet been presented here.
