Description
The database includes the results of the nationwide openland and forest biotope mapping.
The Offenland biotope mapping BW records all biotope types protected by law in accordance with § 30 BNatSchG or § 33 NatSchG BW in its mapping area (Offenland). The legally protected biotope types are recorded according to the uniform specifications of the mapping guide Offenland-Biotopkartierung Baden-Württemberg. After the first round of mapping was completed nationwide in 2004, a new round started in 2010.
The forest biotope mapping BW records the rare and therefore worthy of protection biotopes in its mapping area (forest), most of which are protected by law under § 30a LWaldG, § 30 BNatSchG or § 33 NatSchG. In addition, other important areas from the point of view of biotope and species protection are recorded, e.g. forest stands with protected animal and plant species. Although these areas are not subject to direct legal protection, they are of great importance in terms of nature conservation.
