Development of settlements inwards

Description

The development of settlements internally (SEin) is an important objective of spatial planning, also in the canton of Bern. Poorly used construction zones, gaps and landfills should be overbuilt, or used more optimally, before new building land is developed or even rezoned. Cities and villages should no longer grow at their edges, but rather develop within the existing settlement area. As a result, the sprawl can be slowed down and the cultural land and the landscape can be spared. The canton provides the municipalities with a ‘basic set’ of data that serve as the basis for processing the task SEin in accordance with A_07. The SEin-related data consist of information derived from the GWS (Buildings and Housing Statistics) of the Federal Statistical Office (FOS).
