Fibre-containing sediments
Description
Fibre-containing sediments contain data on the distribution of fibre-containing sediments in selected areas of Swedish coastal and seabeds. Fibre-containing sediments contain anthropogenic/industrially processed wood fibres, in particular pulp fibres for paper or board production. These materials typically contain large amounts of metals and organic pollutants that can be a problem for organisms in oceans and lakes.
The mapping has resulted in surfaces that are divided into five different classes, fiber bank, fiber-rich sediment, wood and bark chips, filling and fiber-poor or fiber-free area.
