Heating network suitability areas Hamburg

Description

The map shows where heat networks are available in the urban area of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and where a heat network supply is economically suitable for the heat network operator and the respective building owner. The classification of the urban area into certain heat network suitability categories is based on an economic calculation of hypothetical ("imaginary") heat networks and a full cost comparison of various climate-neutral heat supply options (heat network connection, heat pump, pellet heating) from a building perspective. The hypothetical heating networks connect buildings in the city and are based on the road network. For the cost-effectiveness calculation, a contiguous number of buildings is considered together. From the point of view of the heating network, the supply of a group of buildings is economical if the revenues from the heat supply cover the costs of the heating network (construction and operation) and the heat generation. From the buildings' point of view, a comprehensive cost calculation of various heat supply options (heat pump, pellet boiler, heat grid connection) was carried out. Each building therefore has a heat supply option, which is the most favourable, based on the assumptions made and among the options compared. From these analyses, the statement was derived as to whether a building could potentially be supplied economically via a heat network and how a heat network connection compares from the building's point of view with the alternative heat supply options.
