Description
This dataset contains floodplains that have had significant adverse impacts on human health, the environment, cultural heritage and economic activity. The EU Flood Risk Directive (FRD) requires Member States to carry out a preliminary flood risk assessment (Article 4). Part of this is a description of the floods that have occurred in the past and that have had significant negative effects. In this context, the report Flood Risks in the Netherlands, 2018. Preliminary flood risk assessment and designation of areas with potentially significant flood risk under the European Flood Risk Directive (FRD) 2nd Cycle 2016 to 2021 an overview of major floods that have occurred in the past and that have led to significant adverse impacts. These floods have often had great significance for the development of the water management infrastructure of the Netherlands.
