Small catchment areas of the City of Turku
Description
The demarcation of the small catchment areas of Turku is based on studies prepared as background material for the preparation of plans and stormwater management. The small catchment areas describe areas delineated by soil surfaces (water dividers) from which surface waters pass through the streams and ditches to larger streams or waterways through the discharge point. Efforts have been made to take into account built embankments, ditch drums and drainage of stormwaters. The catchment areas formed by a large number of small streams have not been delimited to the seaside areas, but they have been interpreted as a single catchment area close to the coastal area.
