Population: Intercensus reconstruction of the resident population by age, gender and citizenship 2002 - 2011
Description
On 26 September 2013, Istat released the intercensus reconstruction of the resident population by age, gender and citizenship (Italian vs. foreign) for all the municipalities of Italy. As communicated by Istat, it is based on the evidence provided by the last Census, together with the comparative examination with the demographic flows (births, deaths, migrations) occurred in the same period. It therefore aims to improve both statistics on the population itself - in terms of consistency, structural composition and demographic events - and those statistical indicators that cannot be separated from their use. The reconstructed population is, in fact, a final product of estimation, although it is based largely on data collected, and therefore it is not possible to attribute to it any meaning other than that exclusively statistical. The dataset contains data relating to the Municipality of Milan between 1 January 2002 and 1 January 2011.
