Enterprises: Number of enterprises and employees by sector of activity of the enterprise

The dataset contains data on companies based in the Municipality of Milan, classified by Ateco code 2007 (2 and 5 digits). For each item of the 5-digit Ateco classification, the number of enterprises, the number of employees and self-employed persons and the total number of employees (sum of the two previous items) are given, regardless of the location of the local units.

NOTE 1: Employment figures are calculated as work units. In this respect, it is recalled that full-time work units (FWUs) can refer to the work performed during the year by a full-time employee, or to the amount of equivalent work performed by part-time workers or workers performing double work. (e.g. two part-time workers at 50% result as 1 work unit). The work unit is therefore not linked to the individual natural person, but conventionally refers to a standard amount of full-time work defined by national contracts. This explains the presence of values with decimal places.
